You’ve hired an energetic, dedicated employee. For the first time, and unexpectedly, she’s staying late to solve a customer problem. But you’ve created a problem for her. She doesn’t know the after-hours building security protocols. She’s about to be locked in and doesn’t know it, because her security card won’t work after 7p. Worse, there’s no one at the front desk to ask, and nobody seems to be on hand in the building. She calls her boss and a couple of coworkers, but gets no answer. It’s not an emergency (a different intranet use), but she really would like to go home without having to explain herself to police or fire dispatchers when she triggers building alarms.
Not only with you have provided this information — at least someone to contact 24/7 via your intranet, but you have heeded our other advice and she knows where she can get a bite to eat after the usual noontime establishments are closed.
